Our seasonal hurricane storage plan caters to those looking to either haul their boats out of the water in our dry storage yard or find a less exposed mooring location in our wet slip basin. Given our location, Rickenbacker Marina offers far more hurricane protection than any other marina in Miami Dade. We are located on the leeward side of Virginia Key and our marina basin faces northwest towards Brickell. We are able to avoid the brunt of the storm surge and damage caused by large debris carried by the destructive onshore flow of wind, waves, and incoming tide which impacts all east or windward facing locations. After the storm makes landfall and the winds clock around out of the west, there is very little distance or fetch for wind and waves to develop and travel from Brickell toward our basin. All of these factors combined with the aid of our skilled and professional staff make Rickenbacker Marina the ideal location for hurricane storage.
